Arellano University will look to get its unbeaten streak going while two other schools, reeling from previous losses, will look to bounce back in the NCAA Season 97 women’s volleyball tournament on Saturday.

Three-time defending champions Lady Chiefs collide with San Sebastian College-Recoletos in the opening salvo at 12 p.m. while San Beda University and Lyceum of the Philippines University tangle in their 2:30 p.m. encounter.

Arellano is fresh from a four-set victory against the Lady Red Spikers where they had to buck a slow start en route to the win.

Showing their championship composure, Arellano activated its middle with Trina Abay flaunting a 15-point performance while team captain Carla Donato finished with 11 markers.

And against the Lady Stags, who were coming off an upset loss to Mapua University, Arellano could not afford to sit on their laurels as they eye to complete their four-peat bid.

“Napaka-importante [nung panalo against San Beda] kasi kung titignan natin, halos lahat ng teams ngayon ay lumakas so hindi na pwedeng papetiks-petiks lang,” said Arellano head coach Obet Javier.

“Nanood kami ng game nila [San Sebastian[ last time [at] talagang napakaganda ng team nila ngayon. Isa ‘yan sa mga dapat bantayan talaga.”

Meanwhile, both Lyceum and San Beda will gun to recover from their respective losses.

San Beda remains winless in two games after absorbing an opening day defeat to De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde before succumbing to Arellano while Lyceum faltered against Benilde as well after opening its campaign with a win over Perpetual.
