De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde head coach Jerry Yee was delighted to finally return to the NCAA Season 97 women’s volleyball tournament on Wednesday, where his wards also picked up their second win in a row.

Yee was coming off a coaching stint with the national team, guiding the girls’ volleyball squad during the 14th Asian Women’s U18 Volleyball Championship in Thailand where they finished ninth.

Yee missed CSB’s season debut win against San Beda University last weekend but the veteran mentor is glad to be back on the sidelines as they cruised to another win, this time against Lyceum of the Philippines University..

“‘Pag panalo masaya siyempre. Actually sa first game doon ako worried,” Yee shared after CSB’s 25-21, 25-8, 25-13 victory over the Lady Pirates.

Yee also highlighted that their early 2-0 start is already an advantage over other teams given the shortened season.

“In the NCAA, one round lang naman kasi so we have to win as many games as we can and try to get an advantage kung ano man ‘yung format,” he added. “May mga incentives ‘yan, kung wala basta andon ka sa harap, [the] better.”

Michelle Gamit, one of the seniors in the team, felt it was great to finally have Yee barking instructions after citing lapses in judgement in the previous match against the Lady Red Spikers.

“Mas okay sa amin na nandito si coach kasi kapag wala siya, may mga decision kasi kami na hindi tama or minsan nagiging carefree lang kami,” the fourth year middle blocker shared.

“So mas kailangan namin na andito si coach, nasusunod namin yung plans.”
