Three-time defending champion Arellano University will gun for its second win in a row while two schools begin their campaign as the NCAA Season 97 women’s volleyball tournament returns on Tuesday.

The Lady Chiefs take on San Beda University in their 2:30 p.m. encounter while Colegio de San Juan de Letran and Jose Rizal University open their respective bids against each other at 12 p.m.

Arellano is riding the momentum from its 25-14, 25-12, 25-21 victory against Mapua University on the opening day with Nicole Sasuman and Princess Bello leading the way.

Against the Lady Red Spikers, Arellano head coach Obet Javier reminded his players to treat it as a championship game even if San Beda is coming off a sweep loss to College of Saint Benilde last Saturday.

“Sinasabi ko madalas sa team ko, kahit nung dati pa, every game dapat tini-treat ‘yan as championship game,” Javier said.

“So dapat ibigay niyo ‘yung lahat, ibigay niyo ‘yung best niyo para sa huli, alam mo kung ano’ng magiging resulta.”

Meanwhile, both Letran and JRU are looking to open their campaigns on the right foot.

Letran is set to lean on Chamberlaine Cunada and Daisy Melendres while JRU, having an intact roster, will bank on team captain  Dolly Verzosa.
