Queensland won the series opener 16-10 and Perry’s repeated appearances on television screens were as unpopular with viewers as the Maroons feel among Sydney’s 80,000 viewers.
The 37-year-old is tackling a new commercial for the Menulog food delivery service and it looked like it was airing during every commercial break in Wednesday’s footy.
The constant refrain of “Did Somebody Say?” Menulog’s sound of the campaign in the ears of onlookers was more painful to some of Phil Gould’s commentary on the Panthers games back in time.
In the ad, Perry, who has replaced Snoop Dogg as the musical face of the brand, dresses up in a variety of colorful and elaborate clothing and dusts off the different cuisines available on Menulog.
Before Origin started, Menulog marketing director Simon Cheng said mumbella he was confident that Australians would appreciate Perry’s role in the new campaign.
“The upcoming Katy Perry just provides another dimension and more depth to the strategy we have for building our audio branding assets,” said Cheng.
“Because we believe that branding is not just a visual branding – you know logos and colors, which of course are very important – we have this strategy to create depth in our branding kit and that also includes audio branding.
“We would love to be able to keep doing more iterations and add further depth to the strategy as we move forward.”
