RHP by Dodger by Trevor Bauer protest hearing against MLB will begin on May 23, ESPN reported on Friday.

Bauer, 31, was suspended for 324 games by the MLB on April 29 for violating the league’s domestic violence policy. The two-year ban is the longest suspension since the policy was implemented in 2015 and Bauer is the first player to appeal the suspension under the policy.

Shortly after her suspension was announced, a woman from Columbus, Ohio, told the Washington Post that Bauer unconsciously choked on her without her consent dozens of times during a years-long relationship that began in 2013. She became the third woman to making allegations against Bauer, after another Ohio woman asked for a temporary restraining order against him in June 2020.

Bauer vehemently denied the allegations and was not criminally charged in the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s review of the case.

“I deny in the strongest terms possible, I deny having committed any violation of the league’s policy on domestic violence and sexual assault,” Bauer wrote in a statement. “I am appealing this action and I expect to prevail. As we have done throughout this process, my representatives and I respect the confidentiality of the proceedings.”

For ESPN, “A third-party referee hired by both the MLB and the MLB Players Association – in this case, Marty Scheinman – will review the findings and chair a hearing that could see witnesses testify and could extend for several months.”

Scheinman will have the power to determine whether Bauer’s suspension will be denied, upheld or reduced. There is no precise timetable for how long the claim process might take, as it could range from several weeks to even months, depending on Scheinman’s availability.

Bauer last pitched an MLB game on June 29, 2021, now in the second year of a $ 102 million three-year deal he signed last offseason. He won the National League Cy Young Award in the shortened season of 60 COVID-19 games in 2020 with the Reds.
