In the videoCardi popped out of the star-studded New York party, telling the crowd, “Tonight we’re going to have fun, make sure you all drink, make sure you all have little ones -“, before the rapper abruptly stopped talking and gave her a suggestive gesture towards the nose.
The video clip then switches to Eilish looking around Cardi before telling a woman next to her “she’s so weird”, with no further context for their conversation.
The internet exploded after the video was released, leading many fans to speculate that Eilish was calling the rapper outspoken.
Hours later, the couple spoke to each other about the questionable video via Instagram voice messages.
In a voice memo sent by Eilish, the “Ocean Eyes” artist made it clear what was going on in the viral clip and what she really meant by the comment.
“Oh my God, I was so worried you would see it. I was fucking calling the people around you weird because everyone was coming to you and shoving their phones up your ass! And I was like, ‘See it for yourself!’ “Eilish said in the audio clip.

Cardi B took it quickly Twitter account share the exchange between the two in the hope of clearing the air.
“I hate the Internet because one, how do you turn one of the brightest parties into a drama” the 29-year-old captioned their swap. “Two, Ocean Eyes is the song that I address to my daughter. Three, Billie is my fucking baby. Yesterday, from the Met to the party, everything was drama-free. Why do you want to turn everything into a mess? “
For the red carpet event, Cardi showed off elegant vibes in an elaborate custom Versace gown complete with seven types of chunky gold chains. Eilish wore a Gucci corset dress in ivory and custom duchesse made from recycled fabric.
