Pathum Nissanka makes ODI history by scoring a stunning double-century. Sri Lankan batsman Pathum Nissanka became the first Sri Lankan batsman to score a double century in a men’s ODI.

Pathum Nissanka’s 210* was the first double century by a Sri Lankan batsman and was also the highest-ever individual score for Sri Lanka in ODIs. He broke Sanath Jayasuriya’s 24-year-old record. Jayasuriya had scored 189 runs against India in Sharjah in 2000.

Nissanka came in to open for Sri Lanka after Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi asked his team to bat. His start was not good and the batsman took time to settle down. However, after meeting his gaze, the batsman hit big shots.

He added 182 runs for the first wicket with Avishka Fernando and did not get disappointed even after his partner was out in the 27th over. Nissanka completed his century in the 32nd over and took 88 balls to reach there.
