The San Francisco 49ers were one of the NFL’s best teams throughout the regular season.

There’s a reason that they were the No. 1 seed for the NFC in the playoffs and a reason that they have made it to the Super Bowl.

The 49ers’ assortment of skill-position players is impressive, considering they are all among the leaders at their respective positions.

One of their best players is Brandon Aiyuk, a young receiver who is in the middle of his fourth season.

He has yet to receive a contract extension, but if Ian Rapoport’s latest comments are any indication, a big payday is just around the corner.

According to Rapoport via Laura Britt and the 49ers on NBCS, “These are the guys that you should want to pay, and I do think the 49ers will eventually.”

Rapoport highlighted Nick Bosa’s contract battle, and while it was met with consternation, he is now the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history.

Aiyuk might not have that kind of contract, but whether it’s with the 49ers or another team, he should get a deal that’s indicative of him being a top-15 receiver.

The 49ers have found a lot of success with their current team, and to this point, they’ve been able to afford it, given that Brock Purdy is still on his rookie deal.

If they do end up paying Aiyuk over the next year, it could put a limit on the other skill-position players they can sign, which could put Purdy in a difficult situation.
